Sam Shepard’s violently poetic one act that borders on rock opera. Based loosely on his affair with Patti Smith, Cowboy Mouth is a dream of wild, American mythology, a clawing for domestic bliss, a yearning for a human and spiritual connection. Cavale has kidnapped Slim in order to make him a rock and roll star, but they fall in love. As Cavale tries to turn Slim into her rock and roll savior, Slim comes to understand that she wants him to be both Man and Myth, flawed and perfect. And anyway, Slim has a family of his own already. Their ravenous desire for a saint and each other begins to tear them apart. But maybe this waiter in a lobster suit can help?
