Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre (www.heididuckler.org) (HDDT) will perform “Expulsion” on October 15 and 16, 2011 in a vacant lot in Glendale, Calif. “Expulsion” is a thought-provoking dance work based on the themes of the temporary, often fragile nature of home, and the universal experience of being forced to leave it.
Four male dancers from HDDT will collaborate with five female dancers from the Iranian-Armenian Djanbazian Dance Company to initiate an open dialogue about the impact these issues have on individuals, families, and neighborhoods. The performance space will consist of a series of three-story scaffolding designed by architect Alex Ward. The audience will view the dance from all angles around the scaffolding, providing each viewer with a unique and unusual perspective. A guitarist, drummer, and glockenspiel percussionist will accompany the dancers with Alex Noice’s original score.
